Ken and Lori
When Ken and Lori were building their new house, they had a wish list for their audio system. "We wanted to be able to hear music throughout the house, as well as outside. We wanted pre-wiring for a pool we might build in the future, and two rooms with surround sound TV. We also wanted to be able to control the volume in each roomor turn the sound off completelyand to be able to watch TV in one room and listen to music in another," explains Ken.
Ken and Lori understood that you can't always get what you want, so they brought a copy of the floor plan to a Bose distributor, and asked if their audio dreams were feasible. His response? With a Bose system, absolutely. "He showed us three or four different ways to do what we wanted, each at a different price level." Then they worked together to determine which products would fit best in their home. Getting it rightThroughout the installation process, the couple saw the installer frequently. First he came in to do the initial wiring before the sheet rock was put up. "During building he came back a few times to decide where the speakers should go. These visits were all included in the cost; we didn't have to pay extra. Then when the sheet rock was up and the house was nearly finished, he came in to install the speakers and amplifiers." Sound in motion Ken and Lori say their sound system impacts peoples’ moods. "We have a contemporary home with a very open design. When we have the music on in all the rooms, we walk around and it's like we’re walking through Disneyland so to speak, we hear the music as we go. And when we're entertaining we can go from room to room and have a continuous flow of music. It's nice for everybody to hear the same soundit keeps people jolly." They set the system up on the deck as well, with four speakers. "When we're out on the deck the music sounds like it does in an indoor room, it's not lost to the outdoors. The music makes the experience." Even their young son benefits from the custom audio system. "When we rent a video it's dramatic; the sound is just awesome. We rented Hercules for our son and the music was incredible. When we watch a football game it's just like being there." But lifelike sound doesn't mean larger-than-life components. "We have small white speakers mounted on the white ceiling, and the bass box looks like the heating vents so we don't see it. People look around for the speakers and they can't find themthey want to know where the music is coming from. The days of the wires throughout the house and the big heavy speakers are over. It's nice and sleek to have everything built in from the start." Custom home audio from Bose is available in the US and Canada. |
