Connecting to an external audio device

You can use your headphones with a variety of audio sources, such as airline entertainment systems, CD/DVD/MP3 players, personal or laptop computers, and home stereos.

The headphone audio cable is fitted with a 1/8-inch (3.5 mm) single plug. A 1/8-inch dual-plug airline audio adapter is included in the box with QC®2 and QC15 headphones.

To make a connection, carefully insert the headphone plug or adapter into the jack on the audio source you will use.

Notice the jack configurations on the left below. All but the 1/4-inch (6.3 mm) jack are common to airplanes. Instructions on the right tell you how to connect to each type of jack.

A single 1/8-inch (3.5 mm) jack, found on most portable sources: Use the single plug on the audio cable. No adapter needed.

One 1/8-inch (3.5 mm) jack and one power jack: Use the single plug on the audio cable in the 1/8-inch jack (the larger jack). No adapter needed. The smaller jack does not need a connection.

Two 1/8-inch (3.5 mm) jacks: Use the dual-plug adapter.

One power jack and two 1/8-inch (3.5 mm) jacks: Use the dual-plug adapter for the two 1/8-inch jacks. The power jack does not need a connection.

One 1/4-inch (6.3 mm) jack, found on home stereos: Any 1/8-inch-to-1/4-inch stereo adapter also can be used for this purpose.

When removing an audio plug or adapter, hold it by the base and pull it gently away from the connection (do not pull the cord).

Note: Airline audio may not equal the same high quality sound as a home audio system or a portable source.
