Setting up your headphones

Connect your headphones directly to your Bluetooth® device

Power on your headphones, then press hold the Power/Bluetooth button until the Bluetooth light is flashing blue and a voice prompt says "Ready to connect another device" (if voice prompts are enabled.) Your headphones should already be in this state when powering them on for the very first time

On the device you want to connect (i.e. smartphone, tablet, etc.) turn on Bluetooth

In the device's Bluetooth settings menu, select your Bose headphones. If you don't see your Bose headphones listed, you may need to tap "Search," "Scan," or "Pair new device" from the device's Bluetooth menu

Once connected, you will hear a voice prompt stating "Connected to <device name>"
Note: Your mobile device may also show a notification to connect the headphones to the device. This step is necessary for the Bose Music app to work properly.

You may also see a notification on your mobile device requesting to setup a voice assistant. You can follow the onscreen instructions to set this up now, or you can always set it up later in the Bose Music app

Connecting with the Bose Music app

The Bose Music app lets you set up and control your headphones from any mobile device, such as a smartphone or tablet. Using the app, you can configure your Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, Xiaowei, choose your voice prompt language, adjust noise cancelling levels, and manage headphone settings. (Voice assistant availability varies by region.)

Download and install the free Bose Music app from your mobile device's app store

Create a Bose account or sign into your existing Bose account

If you don't have a Bose account, select Create Account and follow the app instructions

If you already have a Bose account, tap Log In and enter your username and password

Add your headphones to your account

On the "My Bose" screen, tap the "+" button to add your headphones

Swipe left or right to find your product, and tap "Add Product"

Note: If you don't see your product:

  • Turn your headphones off, then on again
  • Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on the device running the app
  • Bring the device running the app closer to your product
  • Close the Bose Music app on any nearby devices

Once you've selected your headphones, follow the onscreen instructions

Note: With Apple iOS devices, select "Pair" on the "Bluetooth Pairing Request" popup window.

Set up a voice assistant

Select the voice assistant you wish to use:

  • If you already have an account with the voice assistant, enter your login name and password
  • If you do not already have an account with the voice assistant, follow the app instructions to create a new account

Note: Voice services are not available in all regions.
