Theater-like sound for your desktop

Five-speaker systems are great for home theater—but they’re not so sensible for your laptop or PC entertainment. That’s why we developed Companion® 5 speakers. They’re designed for 5.1-encoded music, games and movies, using just two desktop speakers and a hideaway Acoustimass module . You’ll hear multichannel sound in a way that seems to surround you—without the clutter of five speakers. And setup is easy, with a single USB connection to your computer.

  • Our best computer speakers for 5.1-encoded games, movies and music
  • Two small computer speakers and a hideaway Acoustimass® module
  • Control pod for volume, mute, headphone jack and auxiliary input

Our exclusive TrueSpace® surround digital processing circuitry spreads the sound around you, so the enveloping effects seem to come from areas where there aren't even any speakers. The experience is developed especially for computer listening—putting you right in the middle of the music, the game, the special effects.

Easy to set up and use

Hookup requires only a single USB connection from the computer speaker system to your PC or laptop. An all-in-one control pod keeps volume control, single-touch mute, headphone jack and auxiliary input within easy reach. The elegant speakers come mounted on stands for optimum performance and extra desktop space.

Get more from your music. Get more into the game or movie. Whatever your computer entertainment passion, get more engaged with Bose® Companion 5 multimedia speakers.

  • Specially engineered speaker arrays come fully assembled on stands for optimum performance and more usable desktop space.
  • Handy control pod houses volume control, single-touch mute, headphone jack and connection for a second audio source such as an MP3 player.
  • Compact Acoustimass module provides clean low frequencies, allowing the desktop speakers to be very small without sacrificing performance. Module can be hidden neatly under your desk.
  • Proprietary TrueSpace® surround digital processing circuitry reproduces enveloping sound from just two visible speakers. Engineered for computer speaker listening, it creates a dramatic acoustic environment for games, DVDs and music.
  • Single USB connection links the system to your computer. No special software, sound card upgrade, adapters or complicated wiring needed.
  • Digital 5.1 audio playback brings music, games, movies and other 5.1-encoded material to life with much of the performance you'd expect from a five-speaker system.
  • Magnetically shielded satellite speakers prevent monitor interference or damage to magnetic media.
  • Proprietary integrated signal processing delivers lifelike performance at almost any volume level.
  • Compression circuitry keeps your music clear and undistorted at high volume levels.
  • Active electronic equalization balances low, mid and high frequencies for more natural tone and clarity.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from wow i have had these speakers for at least 10 years now. still gotta say, "wow". i don't get the compatibility question. you plug it into the wall and USB port. thats all, for both mac and pc. there is no issue. i can't recall where i purchased them...too long ago. i have 301's. my 901's were at least 35 years old when they were lost in a theft. i hate burglars with good taste. i love my sound link minis too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Durable!! I never write reviews, but I have had these speakers now for 8 years and they are just as nice as out of the box. They have survived through many moves, and blaring parties. If they broke, I would honestly buy them again. If you re thinking about buying these, stop thinking and go ahead-they're worth every penny.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from "No Sound" work-around with Windows 10 I have enjoyed my Bose Companion 5 system for three years using Window 7. Windows 10 has a bug that Microsoft has yet to acknowledge. After my PC goes into sleep mode and then wakes up, the Bose USB playback device has no sound, and requires a restart to get it back. I've exhausted all Microsoft offered fixes. I am told that the Bose Companion 5 system uses only a generic Microsoft USB audio driver. So Bose support sent me a cable with a 3.5 mm plug on both ends. Plugging one end into the audio input jack at the control pod and the other end into the 3.5 mm audio jack to the sound card on the computer (now selected as the default playback device) has provided a work-around solution to the problem.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect! I bought my Companion 5 on 2007. It will simply perfect! Everyone who hears it is impressed. The only problem I had in this 8 years is that, I just bought a new Control Pod that was not workint well. I love Bose.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Control pod I love this system, only complaint is that I've experienced issues with the "control pod" and have had to replace it twice and it looks like I may have it replaced again. But... must say that Bose stands behind their products and has made good by replacing the "control pod" with another.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Sound - High Quality - Long Life I bought this system in 2008 and it still sounds great today. These are very good for playing video games or watching video in a small room with your head close to the screen and speakers. This is great tool for producing video productions with good audio for school, sports teams, or other organizations for display in small to mid-size auditoriums with low to midrange audio systems. My highest recommendation. I would not recommend using these in a living room size environment. If your plan on doing presentations in spaces larger than 500 people with a high end sound system you should spend the extra cash for a good amplifier hooked up to true studio "reference speakers".
