SoundLink Max is IP67 rated, indicating it has passed rigorous testing conditions proving it will withstand an accidental drop into water up to approximately 3 feet (1 meter) deep for up to 30 minutes, or getting exposed to a dust storm. However, while SoundLink Max is protected against accidental exposures to water and dust, is not designed for playback when wet. All of SoundLink Max’s components, including the USB-C charging and AUX ports, transducers, and passive radiators, are built with rugged, waterproof materials. These components are sealed tightly in the speaker’s housing, keeping out water and dust.

Yes, but it is not designed to be used while floating and will orient with the front grille submerged. SoundLink Max is designed to withstand accidental drops in water for up to 30 minutes and remain buoyant for easy retrieval. If SoundLink Max is directly exposed to salt or chlorinated water, rinse with fresh water and allow to dry thoroughly before use.

Bose SoundLink Max Portable Speaker features Snapdragon Sound technology. Snapdragon Sound optimizes Qualcomm® audio technologies across connected devices to ensure the best sound quality, connection stability, and latency for your streaming audio. To experience Snapdragon Sound, you need a Snapdragon Sound-certified device, such as a compatible Android device. Once you connect the speaker, your device will automatically stream audio using the aptX Adaptive Bluetooth codec. Google Fast Pair is a technology developed by Google that automatically detects and pairs with your Android phone in a single tap. Android users (OS 6.0 or newer) will enjoy the rapid setup Google Fast Pair has to offer by simply turning on their SoundLink Max and selecting the Google pair pop-up on their Android device (Android device location services and Bluetooth must be set to “on”).

No. There are no microphones in the SoundLink Max.

Yes. Using Bose SimpleSync technology, you can connect to your SoundLink Max from a SimpleSync-enabled Bose smart soundbar or Bose smart speaker to extend the reach of your listening to other places in the vicinity, such as an adjacent room. Use the Bose app to use SimpleSync.

Shortcuts are managed through the Bose app. Shortcuts allow you to configure settings for the programmable shortcut button on SoundLink Max. When your SoundLink Max is new, the factory default shortcut is set to auxiliary switching, allowing you to use the button to switch between a paired Bluetooth device or a wired connection from a different source.

Multi-point connectivity is a Bluetooth technology that allows your SoundLink Max to maintain a connection to two paired source devices at the same time. Your speaker will seamlessly transition between the two devices so you’re always connected to the active source device.

 

Bose SoundLink Max supports Bluetooth profiles A2DP, AVRCP, SPP, iAP, and BLE.

SoundLink Max can have up to 8 devices paired in its memory. To clear the paired devices list, turn on the speaker and press and hold the Bluetooth button for 15 seconds.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Power House of Bass and Sound I've owned several Bose products and loved all of what I've had so far. This speaker is no exception! Bose has made great strides to improve sound quality recently and especially the bass. I've used products from years ago that were not focused on those aspects and I'm amazed with how far it's come. One thing I thought was very interesting was I found out music production plays a huge role in sound quality, some songs sounded amazing and well balanced and others weren't as clear. That just goes to show that the speaker is fully capable of playing music well, so long as it was produced well. :) With the songs that are produced well, it really is amazing to listen to then on this speaker. You can hear things you didn't hear before and levels of detail that are amazing. I found several songs I never knew on some test playlists that sounded really good on this speaker. It was fun to listen to the songs I love on it and hear the differences. The amount of power this thing can push out is insane, it can get really loud. I did find the best sound hangs out in the mid to upper mid range of volume, the lower levels are pretty quiet and the loudest range is a little washed out. That being said, most of the time I don't use the highest volume, so the sweet spot sits just right for me. I also appreciate the battery life because I often forget to charge it yet it still runs. My QuietComfort headphones are the same story, way to go on battery life! The packaging the product came in was very well designed and also included a USB-C charging cable and power supply (US based). A lot of companies cheap out on that stuff so it was nice to have that included. Overall a really impressive product. I currently own a few small Bluetooth speakers and this one really blows them out of the water. It sits on a completely different level that them. I got the blue and I love the color, but that's just personal preference!

The Max keeps the party going and tunes pumping for hours. The sound is crisp, and clear, and boasts punchy bass and smooth treble. Don't let its size fool you, I was so surprised by the incredible volume range of the Bose Soundlink Max. In fact, on full blast, I could still hear my music clearly from over 250 feet away! One of the most unique things I love about this speaker is was made for adventure. I'm always outdoors, exploring rugged terrain, and adventuring around water. Believe it or not the Max Freaking FLOATS in water!!! How cool is that! I travel full-time as an adventure filmmaker, professional diver, and vanlifer on YouTube! Please Subscribe to see my adventures and say ALOHA! :) The Max is perfect for small spaces like a van or studio apartment. Rated 5 out of 5 by from EQ is a Game Changer The Bose Soundlink Max speakers have quickly become my go-to for both home, work and outdoor listening. Right out of the box, I was impressed by their solid build and sleek design. The handle feels really nice and makes it very easy to carry around and it is an added bonus that they made it very easy to replace the handle if I need to. When looking at things like that, you can really see they put a lot of thought into these speakers. They look great on my shelf and held up well on my trip to the beach with all the sand. What really won me over was the sound quality with the customizable EQ and the Snapdragon Sound. The bass is deep and rich without being overwhelming, the mids are clear, and the highs are crisp. I tested them with various genres, from acoustics to alternative to EDM, and the sound could be catered to my taste with the EQ. Even at higher volumes, there’s no distortion, which was a big plus for me when we had people over. I can't say enough about the battery life. One charge lasted me through many listening sessions. Bluetooth connectivity is seamless and has a good range. I was able to leave my phone inside and still control the music from my backyard. One thing I am hoping for is a travel case in the future for the speakers. I was a bit worried putting them in my bag or suitcase. The price is also on the higher side, but I feel it’s justified given the quality and durability. I see these speakers as an investment, and I’m confident they’ll last me a long time. For anyone serious about their audio experience and looking for a reliable, high-quality portable speaker, I highly recommend the Bose Soundlink Max.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from You won't regret it! Bose did it again! I mean this speaker is incredible. It's small, but it packs a big punch. It feels unnecessary to say a Bose speaker sounds good, but I will anyway... it sounds soooo good. It was easy to set up with the app and connects flawlessly every time. Even as I connect my phone to other wireless devices throughout the day, as soon as I turn on the speaker, it connects right away. Love that! I'm really very impressed with the battery life. I've charged it one time and have used it for probably 15+ hours and it is still at 40%. It has a feature you can set for it to automatically turn off after a certain amount of time so you don't have to worry about draining the battery when you aren't using it. It's got some weight to it, but not in a bad way. I think it makes it feel sturdy and durable. My kids can carry it around no problem. In fact, I've found it in their playhouse a few times. I wanted to charge my phone, but it's only compatible with a USB-C port not a lightning port. So that was a bummer, but not a big deal. So go buy it. You won't regret it!
