“The best-sounding Bose headphones to date.”

Your music — the way it was intended

The patented active noise cancelling technology in Headphones 700 uses microphones both inside and outside the earcups to monitor the sounds around you and instantly produce an opposite signal to cancel them out, creating an empty stage for your music to play on. At the same time, our proprietary TriPort acoustic headphone structure uses external ports to vent the earcups and maximize the acoustic space inside, giving your music the depth and detail the artist intended for you to hear.

“The best active noise cancellation you can buy.”

Hear the world around you. On your terms.

Headphones 700 offer you an unsurpassed level of control, with 11 noise cancelling settings you can adjust with the Bose Music app or directly on the headphones via designated preset levels. Choose from full noise cancelling (which helps isolate you from your surroundings) to full transparency (which helps let in your surroundings, as if you weren’t wearing headphones at all). And for those moments when you’re ordering coffee or listening for your gate number, one click triggers Conversation Mode. It simultaneously pauses your music and switches your headphones to full transparency so you can listen and converse as needed.

“Best wireless headphones for working at home in 2020.”

Calls that are loud and clear. For you and them.

Background noise always seems to be at its worst when you’re on a call. Passing cars, the bustle of the office, or the kids having a spirited “discussion.” Headphones 700 feature a revolutionary microphone system with game-changing voice pickup that adapts to your surroundings in real time. We engineered six mics to work together to cancel the noise around you so you can hear the caller better. At the same time, four mics combine to improve the clarity of your voice so the caller can hear you better, first by isolating your speech and then by suppressing the most disruptive remaining sound around you. It’s unlike anything available in other headphones.

“Great new design. Peerless voice pickup. Noise cancelling is as brilliant as ever.”

Stuff 5-start review for Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700 February 2020

When it comes to noise cancelling headphones, we have a decades-long legacy. But we started fresh for Headphones 700. The result? A new, head-turning form factor, designed for all-day, everyday use. They better fit the anatomy of the human head, thanks to earcups tilted at 15 degrees. And a streamlined steel headband is tuned with just enough clamping force to remain comfortable. The ear cushions are made from plush protein leather, perfect for long listening sessions. They look great. And feel even better.

Speak, swipe, or touch.

We worked hard to make Headphones 700 easy to use. The right earcup features capacitive touch sensors, so you can manage volume, calls, and music without reaching for your phone. Low-profile buttons control the power, noise cancelling presets, and voice assistant (VPA) access. Built-in voice control provides instant access to your music, messages, and information. And the Bose Music app lets you access selectable EQ, manage your Bluetooth connections, change your VPA, check your battery life, and more.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Headphones. Long Detailed Review. First off they are really really nice looking headphones and they are also very comfortable and lightweight to wear. The sound separation of different elements in the mix of whatever songs you listen to is amazing. Classical music, they shine. Also any guitar centered music or rock/blues. Playing guitar with them through an amp is awesome they get a lot louder than the other headphones I tried using and they preserve the tones of the amp. Good enough bass for electronic music or rap. Good clean balanced sounding eq with the smoothest bass I’ve ever heard. Really sounds like some of the songs/bands are playing in the same room with me. Using the aux cable to play Xbox One is good but you can’t alter the eq in the app because the Bluetooth is disabled when you plug in the aux cable. Sadly for gaming sometimes it would be better to have more treble in the mix for things like footsteps but all in all they give great directional awareness and great immersion especially with the Noise cancelling. They possible may not get as loud as some people who game would like but I haven’t found an issue with them. I used a turtle beach gaming headset before and it has higher treble and less bass and they’re louder but their treble-y quality of sound can hurt your ears kind of compared to the Bose NC 700. The call quality is amazing and crystal clear as advertised. The Noise cancelling is great, there are a lot of things that can still get through but not the things that you buy them for. Stomping people on the floors above you, vacuums, fans, are dramatically reduced to a barely detectable volume level and then if your entertainment or phone call is going through the headphones you have virtually no way of hearing a lot of those kinds of noises. Some sounds however make it through and possibly worse than if you didn’t have them on. They aren’t earplugs, so don’t expect that kind of thing but the noise reduction is tremendous and instantly very noticeable. Removing the noise cancelling/setting it to level 0 allow the microphones in the headphones to amplify your surrounding ambient noises to a level similar to if you didn’t have the headphones over your ears, but it’s still not effective enough to hear more subtle sounds and quiet speaking. It’s nice to turn your music down low enough to keep an ear out for noises/disturbances around you, remaining aware of your surroundings and still hearing the music which even when at a low volume is full, clear, balanced, as if it were turned up loud. Rarely connects to the Bose app. Like honestly almost never. If you want to connect you have to ‘forget’ the headphones device on your phone, re-find their signal, and reconnect. The place where the speakers connect to the headband concerns me. The way you adjust these headphones is that you one at a time or simultaneously push each headphone to your desired position along the metal bars of the headband to your desired head size. The speakers move freely and adhere around the ear and to the head really well. It’s a pretty new way that it’s built and feels fragile to me and maybe I’m wrong but I worry about one of the headphones breaking off the band if they were ever to be dropped or something. The rubber cushion on the headband is nice and soft and I like it but I worry about it wearing out or separating from the metal band. It also came with a bump in the center of it, different from the marketing photos displaying the rubber cushion smooth and not dented in the way mine is. The battery is rated at 20 hrs and you can check the remaining battery life to the hour and minute in the phone app or you can hold down a finger tip on the right headphone and the voice assistant will tell you, but the battery seems to deplete in less time than it states that it will. Some times I would run them for an hour after they told me a certain time and would find my battery life had not depleted only an hour but an hour and 15 minutes give or take. I have had these headphones for five weeks today. This was going on the first night of use. They also came out of the box with only four hours of battery life. It seems that when I leave them turned off stored away for maybe only 12 hrs, when coming back and turning them on the battery has depleted without even being used or the headphones left on or anything. Today rather than the usual 2 hrs and 30 minutes charge time that it has always taken almost to the very minute, it took 2 hrs and 41 minutes. TLDR Pros Excellent looks Excellent comfort Incredible sound. Clear, separated soundstage, with very smooth clear bass, mid, and treble. Great for any kind of music. Great for playing guitar through an amp with Great for gaming, maybe not for some picky gamers with different preferences but I find no issues they seem better than my gaming headset if anything. Excellent crisp call quality Excellent noise cancelling Cons Rarely connects to the Bose app without manually prompting it to Hinges of the headband and the phones strikes me as not the most durable/slightly fragile. And if the tension wore out you may not be able adjust them anymore. Rubber cushion on headband strikes me as not very durable and could separate from metal headband Rubber cushion came with dent in it rather than being smooth like pictures show. Other people leaving reviews have the same issue with their headphones. Battery isn’t the best. Arrived with only four hours. I would still recommend trying these out they’re without a doubt some of the nicest on the market for this price. If not for COVID-19 though I probably would have gone and tried out the Sony xm4s and maybe some others to compare and be completely certain but I’m still confident these are a great product for most people considering them.

What is the difference between Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700 and QuietComfort 35 wireless headphones II?

Both QuietComfort 35 headphones II and Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700 are wireless Bluetooth headphones. For music, both are engineered with proprietary active equalization, so they avoid boosted bass, vocals, and treble that create listener fatigue over time, opting instead for faithful reproduction that’s clear, natural, and balanced. Both headphones also feature controllable noise cancelling; however, while QuietComfort 35 offers three settings, Headphones 700 offers 11 — including a full-transparency experience that gives the term “off” an entirely new meaning. While the highest setting delivers the most powerful silence, the lowest lets your surroundings pass-through the earcups fully — so with the flick of a switch, you hear yourself, others, and everything else like you aren’t wearing a headset at all. Conversation Mode lets you gain the same awareness while enjoying content — so you can pause entertainment and noise cancelling simultaneously, chat face-to-face, or listen for announcements, and resume where you left off when you’re done.

How does the noise cancelling in Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700 work?

Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700 use both active and passive noise reduction technologies. Active noise cancelling relies on a sophisticated proprietary electronics approach using microphones both inside and outside the earcups to monitor the sounds around you and instantly produces an opposite signal to cancel the noise. Meanwhile, passive noise reduction is achieved by the combination of the acoustic structure and the earcup fit.

What is TriPort acoustic headphone structure?

Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700 feature our proprietary TriPort acoustic headphone structure, which uses external ports to vent the earcups and maximize the acoustic space inside, so your audio content sounds big and bold.

How many microphones do the Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700 have?

Bose Noise Cancelling 700 feature a total of eight microphones. Six microphones dramatically cancel noise, so it doesn’t reach your ears. Two of those microphones combine with two others to dramatically improve voice pickup. A beamform-array isolates your speech, suppressing everything else that’s audible. A rejection-array adds a second line of defense, tracking then blocking the most disruptive remaining sound — from a coffee grinder to other dialogue nearby. It all happens in real-time, adapting as you move or your environment changes. It works with any VPA, any phone paired to the 700s, or any phone or phone/headphone combination on the far-end.

Can Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700 take calls?

Yes. Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700 have an adaptive microphone system that allows you to use the headphones during calls when connected to any smartphone. In addition to traditional calls, the headphones will work with many apps that use Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), such as Skype or FaceTime.

How do I pair Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700 with my mobile device?

First, make sure your headphones are turned on with a single press of the upper button on the back of the right earcup. Next, press and hold the power button for 3 seconds to put the headphones into pairing mode. Please note, if this is your first time connecting the headphones, they will automatically turn on right into this pairing mode. Voice prompts will provide you with additional guidance. We recommend you use the Bose Music app to complete the pairing process, however, you can also use the Bluetooth settings on your device.

Can Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700 be connected to two mobile devices simultaneously?

Yes. Multi-point technology allows Bose Headphones 700 to maintain a wireless Bluetooth connection to two devices at the same time — for example, an iPad and a smartphone. So while you’re watching video on the connected iPad, the headphones will automatically pause the video to answer a call from the connected smartphone. When the call is finished, the headphones switch back to the video on the iPad.

What is the range of Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700?

Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700 have a range of up to 33 ft (10 meters) from the source device. It is realistic to describe the range as being the room the user is in and the adjacent room. This range may be reduced by physical obstructions, such as walls and doors, or by interference from other electronic devices. Pops or a crackling noise may be heard if there’s interference with the Bluetooth connection. If that happens, move away from wireless routers or microwaves and bring your headphones closer to the Bluetooth device.

How long will the battery stay charged?

Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700 use a custom-designed lithium-ion rechargeable battery that provides up to 20 hours of full-featured audio playback.

How many additional charges does the Headphones 700 Charging Case provide?

When fully charged, the Headphones 700 Charging Case gives you up to two full additional charges — or up to 40 hours of play time.

How does the Headphones 700 Charging Case work?

The Headphones 700 Charging Case charges your Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700 via an internal USB-C cable. Place your headphones into the case and plug them into the cable to receive up to two additional charges when the case is fully charged. Five LEDs indicate the battery life of the case. You can check that status by pressing the battery status button next to the lights.

How do I control volume or manage my content with the Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700?

The front half of the right earcup houses our touch interface for basic controls. This includes intuitive gestures like slide up and down for volume control and slide forward and back for track forward/back controls. In additional, a double tap will pause or play your content and also answer or hang up a call.

Can I change equalizer settings on my Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700?

Bose Headphones 700 also give you two options when it comes to audio EQ. Do nothing and the bass, midrange, and treble of whatever you’re listening to will be adjusted automatically to make it sound great. Or choose Equalizer in the settings of the Bose Music app to change the audio levels yourself to however you like them best. Either way, you’ll enjoy immersive sound at any volume.

Will there be software updates for my Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700?

Bose Headphones 700 are carefully engineered to be compatible with future innovations. Through a series of software updates, Bose plans to add new features and even more impressive sound management features over time. Simply register your new headphones on the Bose Music app and Bose will alert you as each new feature becomes available.

How do I fold the Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700 for storage?

Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700 utilize a hidden pivot design to quickly fold flat with one twist of the earcups, and store neatly in a thin, tapered hard case. Inside the case, there is a dedicated cable management compartment with a magnetic cover. This design improves ease of use and utility, while the thin wedge shape also facilitates storage in tight locations, including seat pockets, backpacks, and bags.

How do I use my phone’s default virtual assistant?

Using the lower button on the back of the right earcup, Bose Headphones 700 give you access to your phone’s default virtual assistant, like Siri.

How do I set up the Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa as my preferred voice assistant*?

Use the Bose Music app to set up one of our voice assistant partners. It will guide you through the setup process, allowing you to set up an integrated button access feature that will automatically connect to your voice assistant app.

*Voice services (Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant) may vary and may not be available in all languages and countries.

What happens if I’m in a country where the Google Assistant or Alexa are not yet supported?

The Bose Music app will guide you to select from a given region’s available features. For regions where only one is available, the app will automatically display the one you can select. In regions where neither is available, the voice assistant button will default to the native voice assistant available on your mobile device.

What kinds of things can I ask Alexa to do?

Once you’ve set it up, just press and release the voice assistant button and start talking. Alexa can help you manage your music and get things done — like start a playlist, play a favorite song, order products from Amazon, and control Alexa-enabled devices in your home. It can help you get notifications from Alexa about when your Amazon order has shipped. You can ask things like:

“Alexa, play ’90s pop.”
“Alexa, read a book from Audible.”
“Alexa, add milk to my shopping list.”

What kinds of things can I ask the Google Assistant to do?

Once you’ve set it up, to access the Google Assistant, simply press and hold the voice assistant button to talk, and release it when you’re done. The Google Assistant will read you your notifications, like an audio lock screen. The Google Assistant also provides you with proactive notifications, such as an incoming text message, a meeting reminder, and many others. You can have the Google Assistant expand on these notifications with a single press or reject them with a double press. You can ask for things like:

“Tell me the latest news.”
“Call Thomas.”
“Set a timer for 35 minutes.”
“Add olive oil to my shopping list.”
