The sound of a much larger stereo for CDs, AM/FM and more

Enjoy rich, room-filling sound from a small music system that fits nearly anywhere—and now has a fresh design. The Bose® Wave® music system IV includes a CD player, an AM/FM radio tuner and an input in the back for other sources.

  • Exclusive waveguide speaker technology delivers high-performance sound
  • CD/MP3 CD player with repeat, random and continuous play
  • Advanced AM/FM tuner with onscreen text display of song and artist information
  • Auxiliary input for other sources
  • Slim credit card-style remote operates all functions

Elegant simplicity

Just plug it in and you're ready to go. Regular or home-burned CDs/MP3 CDs load directly into the front, and your favorite radio stations are available at the touch of a preset. A slim infrared remote control lets you operate all system functions from anywhere in the room, and the convenient touch-top controls for on/off/snooze are completely invisible. You hear your music with clear, full, accurate sound. All from a system that fits virtually anywhere—living room end table, kitchen counter or bedroom nightstand.

Big sound from a compact system

Much as a flute expands a breath of air to fill a concert hall, Bose waveguide technology fills your room with natural sound.

Your favorite music made easy

In addition to the built-in AM/FM radio tuner and CD player, connect to devices that use a standard 3.5 mm audio output.

Sets up in minutes

There’s no stack of electronics. No big speakers. No wires running around your room. Proprietary Bose technologies automatically perform many of the adjustments needed for high-performance audio. So you can enjoy the performance of a large, multi-component stereo without setting a row of controls. You may find yourself listening to music more often and enjoying it more. It’s really that simple.

Easy usability

The advanced AM/FM tuner delivers clear radio reception, and you can instantly access your favorite stations with six FM and six AM presets. Song and station information appears on the large visual display. And the CD player lets you hear your music the way you like with repeat, random and continuous play.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good build quaility I was inherited this and saw that it was built on 06/25/1999. Clearly Bose did something right of this equipment still works perfectly after 21 years. Sound quality is good but I would rather use the line out and play it on external speakers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best table top Radio ever! Period. It all started during the second week of June, 2020. While microwaving some food with the TV running, I suddenly experienced a very pronounced "Brown Out". Yet all of the fuses were OK. Everything had shut down. And then it was over, power back to normal. Well it turned out that my beloved aged Wave Radio/CD player (the one with the CD player on top but under the control panel), which was just sitting there in my bedroom doing nothing, suddenly blew a circuit. Dead as a door nail. So I needed a replacement fast. I went on the web site and discovered the Wave Music System IV. A vast majority of the reviews gave it 5 stars. Plus, a refurbished model was listed at being $50 off. ["Refurbished" means that it had been thoroughly checked out by the factory and was, essentially, brand new.] No factory defects here. No sirree Bob. Now some of the complaints mentioned the fact that the only access to the radio was through the remote control. However, this "up dated" model has what they call a "Touch Pad" on top and to the front of the radio. Touch it and the radio goes on. Touch it again and the radio goes off. It also works to snooze the alarm (after you preset for the amount of snooze time you want). So no messing with the remote when you're half asleep. Due to my previous experiences with other Wave Radios, setting up this radio was a "piece of cake". But how did it perform? This is where the "rubber meets the road", so to speak. Bose was very kind to send me a demo CD in the packaging. They said that for best effects, the volume should be set between 80-85. Well the music was nice, friendly, but not very demanding of the system. Since I had my own CDs, I felt that they could do a better job of "testing the radio". So I brought out a CD titled "A Couple of Fifths", with Frederick Hohman as the organist. The organ he used is from Newmark's (in New Jersey) "Cathedral of the Sacred Heart". I went straight to Tract # 5. This is from Charles-Marie Widor's 5th Symphony in F, opus 42. The mighty Toccata: Allegro. Played on a sizable organ (which this was), windows have been known to crack and break. Home speaker systems have sometimes blown out. So I set my volume at 80, not wanting to blow out those two small 2 1/2" speakers, though I could have gone all the way up to 99 (maybe outdoors I might have been tempted). But at that level is where "angels fear to tread". Even at that sound level of only 80, I kept telling myself: "No mas, no mas". Well the high notes were brilliant. The middle range was full and complete. And the bass notes, coming from the organ's 32' pipes, you could feel the air pressure against your body. Oh mommy! I thought things were going to blow. Now did the radio duplicate a concert hall or a cathedral? No, since it'd only a radio. But is there another table top radio out there that sounds any better? Again No. To quote from the liner notes of Bose's test CD: "We believe you'll discover that what you own is no ordinary music system." Amen to that! For clarity and accuracy of sound and music, you won't find a better radio than the Bose Wave Music System IV. Period.
