QuietComfort Headphones (2nd Gen) elevate the experience of the previous generation with an all-new design and several new or improved features, including: TrueSpatial Technology for immersive sound and ActiveSense Technology for adaptive noise cancellation in Aware Mode.

Yes. The USB-C connector provides the option of wired listening, even for analog sources. The included USB-C to USB-C cable not only charges your headphones while listening but also allows USB audio to pass to and from your headphones. With wired audio, you can experience Lossless input up to 24 bit/48 kHz and have voice output signal up to 24 bit/16 kHz. For analog audio sources with a 3.5 mm headphone jack, for in-flight entertainment or computer for example, there’s a 3.5 mm to USB-C cable included.

Yes. Use the Bose app to disable noise cancelling while listening to your audio. Doing this will increase battery life, but you will not hear your own voice in your headphones during phone calls.

Cinema Mode is a specially tuned version of Bose Immersive Audio made for screen viewing. Immersive Audio allows the listener to hear audio as if it were coming from beyond the earcups of your QuietComfort Headphones (2nd Gen), allowing for a more spacious, natural listening experience. Cinema Mode builds on this concept by spatializing the content from your video source while rendering dialogue to be centered in front where you view the screen.

Aware Mode, also known as “transparency,” uses the microphone arrays in your headphones to detect your surroundings and recreate them in your headphones so you can clearly hear your environment around you without sounding like your ears are covered. When ANC is turned off, the microphone arrays are disabled and noise cancelling functionality is disabled.

Yes. Bluetooth® multipoint technology allows Bose QuietComfort Headphones (2nd Gen) to maintain a connection to two devices at the same time. If your headphones have been paired to more than two devices, they will connect to the two most recently connected devices when the headphones are powered on.

Bose QuietComfort Headphones (2nd Gen) utilize both active and passive noise reduction technologies. They use a sophisticated proprietary electronics approach for active noise reduction, placing microphones both inside and outside the earcups. The electronics system senses the sound in almost any environment and then measures, compares, and reacts — instant by instant — to produce an opposing cancellation signal. Meanwhile, passive noise reduction is achieved by the combination of earcup fit, design, and clamping force of the headband.

First, make sure your headphones are turned on with the slider switch in the middle “On” position. Next, slide and hold the switch to the Bluetooth icon until the Bluetooth LED flashes blue or when the voice prompt indicates the headphones have entered into pairing mode. Please note, if this is your first time connecting the headphones, they will automatically turn on into pairing mode. Voice prompts will provide you with additional guidance. We recommend using the Bose app to complete the pairing process, however, Bluetooth settings on your device can be used to complete pairing.

Bose QuietComfort Headphones (2nd Gen) have a range of up to 30 ft (9 m) from the source device. This range may be reduced by physical obstructions, such as walls and doors, or by interference from other electronic devices. Pops or a cracking noise may be heard if there’s interference with the Bluetooth connection. If that happens, move away from wireless routers or microwaves and bring your headphones closer to the Bluetooth device.

Active EQ (equalization) involves electronically tuning the frequency response to closely match the proprietary Bose response curve for headphone audio. The closer the frequency response comes to matching the target curve, the more lifelike the audio performance.

Yes. You can continue to listen to your source even if the battery power is depleted. Without power, the headphones operate in a passive mode and neither active noise cancellation nor Active EQ is able to function.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Perfect Travel Headphones—My “Kid Silencers”! ## The Perfect Travel Headphones—My “Kid Silencers”! As someone who travels every week for work, I’ve spent a lot of time searching for headphones that can make flights more comfortable and peaceful. These Bose QuietComfort headphones absolutely deliver! The comfort is outstanding. They feel incredibly light, even during long flights, and I can wear them for hours without the pressure or fatigue I’ve experienced with heavier headphones. The noise cancellation is equally impressive—it does an amazing job of transforming a loud airplane cabin into a calm, quiet space where I can work, relax, or enjoy my music. I jokingly nicknamed them my **“Kid Silencers”** because of how effectively they tune out the commotion around me. While they can’t make a busy flight completely silent, they come impressively close! ### Pros - Exceptional comfort for long periods - Powerful noise cancellation - Remarkably lightweight - Ideal for frequent business travel - Excellent for working, relaxing, or enjoying entertainment in noisy environments I haven’t found any cons yet. So far, these have been the ideal travel headphones—and they’ve quickly become something I won’t board a plane without!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Headphones! Chic and stylish. If you’re like me and need peace and quiet and amazing sounds after a long days work, the Quiet Comfort Headphones 2nd Gen are IT! I put them on after a long days work, and enjoy calming sounds coming out of these headphones. I can’t hear any background noise. They fit perfectly over my ears and head. The way the ear gets hugged with the cushion feeling is perfect. They come in a cute, compact case that I can pack perfectly in my everyday bag. One thing I wish the headphone case could do is have a built in charger, so when I put my headphones back in, they are charging. Maybe the 3rd gen will have this 😉 Love my headphones in the black color. It’s not overly shiny in look, it’s like a matte black. The overall style of these headphones are perfect, not overly bulky. I love them!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfortable, light, and great features These are great headphones! I love the sound quality and feel excited to listen to music and my favorite podcasts. They are so comfortable and light, I sometimes forget I have them on. I have a lot of piercings in my ears and they’re still the most comfortable headphones. I take the train to work and the noise from the tunnel can damage hearing over time, but these headphones protect my hearing. They are also perfect for work! I work in a noisy office, I don’t have an office where I can shut the door, with these headphones my workday is peaceful and productive. One of my favorite features to use at work is quiet mode. When I am in quiet mode, I can proofread documents without having to have background music playing to keep my headphones on. The only thing is that these headphones do not tell me how much battery I have left but they do charge quickly and I can always check the app. The battery also lasts long. They come in really pretty colors, too!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth the investment. This is the reason why I invest in Bose products. These headphones are the next level. The ANC is fantastic, and the sound quality of the music with the rich deep bass, is like having an expensive surround sound system on your ears. The Bose app is great with the ability to customize your listening experience. Overall, I highly recommend this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Is Upgrading to the QuietComfort Headphones worth? If you're asking yourself, "is upgrading to the QuietComfort Headphones 2nd Gen worth it?", rest assured that I promise you that you won't regret your purchase. After having these headphones for almost a month, I can say that this 2nd Gen over-the-ear headphones are completely worth it and blow the 1st Gen out of the water. From workouts and jogs, to long flights and unexpected layovers at the airport, these headphones have saved me from unwanted distractions and even more unnecessary background noises that I did not need (i.e. crying children). The noise cancelation and the new Immersive Audio control, paired with the Bose app, has truly taken a huge leap from its prior generation and blown it out of the water. There's always a level of fatigue when wearing these types of headphones, but I found myself actually wearing these bad boys hours longer than the original. The band that connects the Left and Right phones has more cushion that I believe contributes to the higher comfort level. With the Immersive Audio control, witnessing films and TV shows feels like an upgrade that literally makes you experience your favorite things to watch like you're watching from a theater. This is a great purchase if you travel a lot!!
