QuietComfort Headphones (2nd Gen) elevate the experience of the previous generation with an all-new design and several new or improved features, including: TrueSpatial Technology for immersive sound and ActiveSense Technology for adaptive noise cancellation in Aware Mode.

Yes. The USB-C connector provides the option of wired listening, even for analog sources. The included USB-C to USB-C cable not only charges your headphones while listening but also allows USB audio to pass to and from your headphones. With wired audio, you can experience Lossless input up to 24 bit/48 kHz and have voice output signal up to 24 bit/16 kHz. For analog audio sources with a 3.5 mm headphone jack, for in-flight entertainment or computer for example, there’s a 3.5 mm to USB-C cable included.

Yes. Use the Bose app to disable noise cancelling while listening to your audio. Doing this will increase battery life, but you will not hear your own voice in your headphones during phone calls.

Cinema Mode is a specially tuned version of Bose Immersive Audio made for screen viewing. Immersive Audio allows the listener to hear audio as if it were coming from beyond the earcups of your QuietComfort Headphones (2nd Gen), allowing for a more spacious, natural listening experience. Cinema Mode builds on this concept by spatializing the content from your video source while rendering dialogue to be centered in front where you view the screen.

Aware Mode, also known as “transparency,” uses the microphone arrays in your headphones to detect your surroundings and recreate them in your headphones so you can clearly hear your environment around you without sounding like your ears are covered. When ANC is turned off, the microphone arrays are disabled and noise cancelling functionality is disabled.

Yes. Bluetooth® multipoint technology allows Bose QuietComfort Headphones (2nd Gen) to maintain a connection to two devices at the same time. If your headphones have been paired to more than two devices, they will connect to the two most recently connected devices when the headphones are powered on.

Bose QuietComfort Headphones (2nd Gen) utilize both active and passive noise reduction technologies. They use a sophisticated proprietary electronics approach for active noise reduction, placing microphones both inside and outside the earcups. The electronics system senses the sound in almost any environment and then measures, compares, and reacts — instant by instant — to produce an opposing cancellation signal. Meanwhile, passive noise reduction is achieved by the combination of earcup fit, design, and clamping force of the headband.

First, make sure your headphones are turned on with the slider switch in the middle “On” position. Next, slide and hold the switch to the Bluetooth icon until the Bluetooth LED flashes blue or when the voice prompt indicates the headphones have entered into pairing mode. Please note, if this is your first time connecting the headphones, they will automatically turn on into pairing mode. Voice prompts will provide you with additional guidance. We recommend using the Bose app to complete the pairing process, however, Bluetooth settings on your device can be used to complete pairing.

Bose QuietComfort Headphones (2nd Gen) have a range of up to 30 ft (9 m) from the source device. This range may be reduced by physical obstructions, such as walls and doors, or by interference from other electronic devices. Pops or a cracking noise may be heard if there’s interference with the Bluetooth connection. If that happens, move away from wireless routers or microwaves and bring your headphones closer to the Bluetooth device.

Active EQ (equalization) involves electronically tuning the frequency response to closely match the proprietary Bose response curve for headphone audio. The closer the frequency response comes to matching the target curve, the more lifelike the audio performance.

Yes. You can continue to listen to your source even if the battery power is depleted. Without power, the headphones operate in a passive mode and neither active noise cancellation nor Active EQ is able to function.

Why buy from Bose

¹ Testing conducted by Bose with active noise cancelling on and audio playback at a loudness of 75 dBSPL. Battery life varies based on settings and usage.

² Quick charge testing conducted by Bose by charging battery-depleted headphones for 15 minutes, then resuming audio playback at a loudness of 75 dBSPL. Battery life varies based on settings and usage. Time to achieve fully charged headphones was determined by charging battery-depleted headphones to 100%.

Ratings and Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome headphones. I got these about a month ago. Took them on vacation. The battery life was great. 2 hour flight using the noise cancelling and only down a few percent. They are super light. And don’t crush my glasses into my head after wearing them for an extended time. They are great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid high quality, great value and fun features! Been wanting to upgrade to headphones vs earbuds. The QC earbuds always fall out of my right ear I had to switch to the open earbuds. Of course that doesn’t allow for noise cancellation, these Gen 2 headphones were exactly what I needed bender I even knew what I needed. I feel of them is very quality, nothing sounds cheap or hollow, they are significant and solid. Main thing fit wise is the pill shaped cups, lets be honest our ears are pill shaped not round so these fit great. Every once in a while they need to be adjusted to renew the sound proof seal with your ears but nothing as frustrating as an earbud constantly falling out! Sound wise they are stellar. The new immersive sound is interesting, I found it fun for some music but I tend to like the traditional sound of just straight quiet mode. The spatial is a nice addition and I’m sure will be improved with my re feedback. Cinema mode is a nice addition for truly watching movies, not as good for music as you would expect. Overall these are solid, high quality headphones as you would expect from Bose and hopefully the future updates enhance them even more!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Superior noise cancelling, sound and comfort My Quiet Comfort Headphones 2nd Gen are the best headphones I’ve had. I listen to music all day, every day. I am a new grandma whose grand child lives far away so I travel every few weeks to visit her. I also fly regularly for work so the noise cancelling is a must! The noise cancelling feature is by far the best I’ve experienced. I have had noise canceling earbuds as well as over ear versions from both Sony and Bose. Bose QuietComfort 2nd Gen is by far the best. The comfort of the ear piece is top notch. The only thing I will say is they may cause you to sweat if doing activities, but you won’t hear anything around if you chose quite mode. That being said, I love the option to use the aware mode so I can hear if necessary. The sound quality of the music is superior to any other headphones as well. If you want to feel the music as though you are at an actual concert, these are the headphone for you. You can’t go wrong with the QuietComfort 2nd Gen headphones, they are week worth the money. you can get cheaper, but you can’t find better overall quality!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A little different but still the Bose you love I work from home and have been using these to listen to audiobooks and music during the day (during walks). The noise cancellation is top notch and I like the adjustable headband that never feels too tight on my head no matter the hair style I'm wearing. During the initial wear, the music seemed a bit tinny but after playing around with the settings in the app, I found the setting that I listen to most often. There was a bit more tinkering that I had to do initially that I didn't care for but once it was set up, it's the same Bose that I know and love. The battery life is also pretty good. Easily can go a few days without charging after listening for a day or so.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Get Ready for Total Immersion! 4.5 Stars! I am a big fan of my Bose earbuds, so the Bose Quiet Comfort headphones are my first experience with over-the-ear headphones since the 90s, and, WOW! have things changed since then! Out of the package, set up was super easy through the Bose app. In less than 5 minutes, I was connected and ready to go. The leather headband and ear cups are super comfy, but I have a small head, so during longer runs, they slipped, but for less impact-driven workouts, they stayed on like a charm. After a couple hours of listening, my ears did start to feel the pressure, but it wasn’t enough to interrupt the experience because, that sound! No one does great sound like Bose, and these headphones take it up several notches! The first thing I noticed was how immersive the sound was. Same Bose quality, just more. It was easy to set the amount of bass and treble I like through the app, and I love the immersion setting. It surrounds you completely in whatever you are listening to. These headphones are perfect for low impact workouts (weights, stationary bike, etc), cleaning around the house, getting work done at the computer, or sitting on the couch and listening music or streaming while my husband is watching the TV. The “quiet” mode shuts out almost all of the outside sound, letting me work, watch, or listen without distractions, but be advised! Both quiet and immersion make it difficult to hear someone talking to you from across the room, meaning they may think you are purposely ignoring them. I started telling my husband when I was in either of the two modes to prevent that after the second time it happened. These will definitely be my go-to for when I need to block the distractions, and thanks to the buttons on the side, it’s easy to put them in “aware” mode so you can hear what is going on around you if needed. If I am working out on a machine and am in “aware” mode, the headphones will jump to quiet when the beeps signal a change. This can be distracting, but not a real game-changer. I don’t usually answer calls on my earbuds because it is often difficult to hear or be heard, but that is not the case with these headphones. Calls were crystal clear on both ends, and just like with whatever I am streaming, the connection stayed even two or three rooms away from my phone. The headphones fold up and fit nicely in the compact carrying case, making them easy to pack for travel. For my higher impact workouts, I’ll stick to my Bose open-earbuds, but when I need to escape the outside world or want a totally immersive sound experience, these are definitely my go-to!
