Bose SoundTouch support discontinued

Update: May 6, 2026

In October 2025, we announced cloud support for SoundTouch products would be ending. Cloud support has now ended, following an extension from the original February 18 date to May 6, 2026. This page has been updated to reflect the new functionality available to you.

SoundTouch app update Now live

As of May 6, 2026, the SoundTouch app has updated to a version that supports functions that can operate locally without the cloud. No action was required on your part — opening the app applies the update automatically.

What continues to work:

  • Streaming music from your favorite apps directly via Bluetooth®, AirPlay, Spotify Connect, and AUX
  • Setting up and configuring your system
  • Remote control features, such as Play, Pause, Skip, and Volume
  • Grouping multiple speakers together

What no longer works:

  • Presets (preset buttons on the product and in the app)
  • Browsing or playing music services directly from the SoundTouch app
  • Stereo pairing for SoundTouch 10

Important note: Your system will no longer receive security and software updates. Please make sure to always use your system on a secure, private network.

How to keep listening after May 6

You can continue enjoying music through your favorite music services (i.e. TuneIn and Pandora) by streaming directly from their apps and sending the audio to your SoundTouch system using AirPlay, Bluetooth, or AUX. Soundbars and home theater systems can still use HDMI or optical connections for TV audio.

If you use Spotify, you can continue streaming with Spotify Connect through the Spotify app.

With the Bose SoundTouch cloud now offline, access to Presets is no longer available. Please refer to any saved presets you noted previously and follow the SoundTouch End-of-service Guidance for instructions on how to set up those presets as favorites within your music service apps.

Open-source options for the community

We’ve made our technical specifications available so that independent developers can create their own SoundTouch-compatible tools and features. The documentation is available here: SoundTouch API Documentation.

SoundTouch FAQs

Why is Bose ending support for SoundTouch?
Bose SoundTouch systems were introduced into the market in 2013. Technology has evolved since then and we’re no longer able to sustain the development and support of the cloud infrastructure that powers this older generation of products. We remain committed to creating new listening experiences for our customers built on modern technologies.

Will my SoundTouch speaker stop working?
Some functions such as Bluetooth and AUX on standalone SoundTouch speakers (like SoundTouch 10, 20 Series III, and 30 Series III) will continue to work when connected to a mobile device or wired source, soundbars and home theater systems can still continue to use HDMI or optical connections for TV audio. While AirPlay and Spotify Connect should continue to function, other features like SoundTouch streaming and certain app controls, no longer function.

Will the SoundTouch app stop working?
As of May 6, 2026, the app has updated to support key functions without relying on the cloud. With this version of the app, you will be able to control any system that is on the same Wi-Fi network as your phone. You can still set up, configure, remotely control, and group systems through the app. Browsing music services and initiating content from within the SoundTouch app no longer functions. Instead, you may download your favorite music service apps (TuneIn, Pandora, etc.) and send audio to the SoundTouch systems via AirPlay, Bluetooth, or AUX. If you are a Spotify user, stream content to your SoundTouch system using Spotify Connect from within the Spotify app.

Will the SoundTouch app still be available to download?
The SoundTouch app will remain available to download in all regions until further notice.

Will I lose access to my saved presets?
While some existing presets may continue to work, we cannot guarantee that all presets will work going forward. You will not be able to change any existing presets after May 6.

If you wish to continue listening to content stored in your presets, you should use the playlist name and associated music service. You can then use this information to find and save this playlist as a Favorite within the relevant music service app.

To listen to this content (instead of using the Preset feature) you will select this Favorited playlist from within your music service app, and then stream the audio from your phone to the SoundTouch system using AirPlay, Spotify Connect, Bluetooth, or AUX.

Refer to SoundTouch End-of-service Guidance for a step-by-step visual guide.

Where can I get help now that support has ended?
We’re committed to supporting our customers. If you have any questions or concerns regarding your options after this change, please feel free to visit theBose Support site for up-to-date support and contact information.

Does this impact other products?
No. This change only impacts products sold with SoundTouch functionality.

What happens to my account and personal data?
We’ll be deleting any product usage and interaction information associated with your SoundTouch product by May 15, 2026. If you own other Bose products, your My Bose account will stay active and can still be used on our website (where available) and in other Bose apps. If you’d like to download or delete your SoundTouch data, or delete your My Bose account entirely, fill out our privacy request form.

Will my product continue to receive security updates?
No. SoundTouch products will no longer receive security updates. Firmware updates are no longer available now that the cloud is offline.
